As my wife described it: Dude, it started, 2h went by, and they were at the same place. When in 2h nothing really happens, well, the story isn’t working.

As someone that works professionally as a storytelling, I think you nailed it. The story just doesn’t move. There is no rhythm to it (among many other problems).
